Mumbai/Coloba
On the 20th of april 2011, we arrived in mumbai airport! Hit by a blast of hot air, we sat under a Palm tree to pick our first move! Ten minutes later we were in a prepaid taxi on our way to the centre of mumbai, which we later found out was actually the most southern tip of mumbai, Coloba! Famously known for it's attraction of tourists. Dropped off in amongst the caos, we headed through the masses of Indians trying to sell us goods, to find a hotel. We were soon followed by a guy who was convinced we should follow him to find a hotel worthy of it's price. We soon came across a lovely one "broadway hotel" which had opened only 8 weeks before so the construction work was still in full progress! Marbled staircase, AC, attached bathroom, nice reception... All in all a very classy hotel which we knew we would never be able to afford again! After a cold shower and a rest from carrying our big bags, we headed out to explore the area! Loads of market stands were all up and down the street, the sellers always telling you how much you needed to buy their goods. Afterwards we headed to a cyber-cafe to try and contact some couchsurfers in the region! On our way out of the cyber-cafe however, we got stopped by a guy who offered us a background position, in a Bollywood commercial! Why not!? We were to meet him and another french couple the next morning at 7h30 in front of (yes nothing other then) a McDonalds. That night we ate at Leopold's cafe, quite expensive very yummy.

Up bright and early we met the French couple and our chauffeur for the day! We spent most of the trip to where the filming was to take place, conversing with Segolene and Jb, who were also doing a round the world trip! Once we finally arrived, after a long trip of honking and dodging in and out of traffic, breakfast was served! Nans, a spicy dish and bananas. We ended up waiting round for hours before we were needed for our first quick scene! Segolene and I had our tops changed (long sleeved of course, as it was only 35 degrees out) and we had to walk talking around the pool! Later we had other small scenes, sitting in a cafe
walking past...etc. Nico also ended up in a sweater for the day! We also met a famous actor Manmeet, who was very nice.
Many hours later, many liters of water later and the sun still scortching down, we stopped for lunch before heading off to another set in a cinema. Once the day was over around 19h30, we were each paid 500 rps. A quick dinner, in a wonderfully delicious and cheap place and then to bed.

We decided to order breakfast in bed to start the day...omelette and tomatoes. However it came in 2 litres of oil, so we gave up on it quite quickly.
We packed up our bags, as we had to leave the hotel by 12h00 and headed out into the sun.
We wondered around for quite some time, looking at stalls etc. At one point we met a guy selling maps called Raj, who ended up showing us around the town all day. He took us to a museum, the local market, to the peer to watch the crabs
running over the rocks and then to bar "Mocha" for some chicha and indian coffee.
That morning we had thankfully heard from a couchsurfer Aatish Dabral, who was happy to put us up for the night, however we needed to take a train and then a cab to get there, as he lived quite far out in Gargeaon!
Raj (who had been guiding us around all day) kindly took us to the station, even bought our tickets and took us all the way to our stop where he called us down a taxi. Some negotiation later we were bumping up and down in a rickshaw (three wheeled scooter cab) and dropped off in front of a very big building!
Our host was wonderfully friendly, kind and lots of fun! We had Indian rum and talked about diferent accents, the cricket and more.

Today we had a very long lie-in. No longer exausted, we headed out for some very late breakfast (samosas, a big bite and a lassi). The people in this area are very much relaxed and we had a lovely wonder around.
That evening we had dinner at the "Red Olive" where the owner himself, made us a special dish. Around 11'ish we headed back to Aatish's, where he joined us not long after for a some glasses of apple-vodka and indian rum.

After some reflection we had finally decided on our next destination of our trip around India: Goa. Far away from all the hussle and bussle of the city it was the perfect pick for some relaxing days in the sun. Next step therefore was to buy our tickets. This however did not turn out to be as easy as we would have hoped. Thankfully Aatish had kindly accompanied us into town and led us to all the right places: first stop was a tourist office across from Churchgate station, this however was in vain, so we headed by taxi to CST Station, which also ended in there being no tickets left. We looked into the buses, but they were too expensive for the time they took. All hope of finding tickets therefore ended and we headed into Coloba for lunch. A delightful place, extremely busy, delicious and cheap (sadly I cannot remember the name of it, but it's on a corner not far from a small supermarket). This is where we tried Masala Dosa and Puri... for the first time. Along with freshly squeezed watermelon and mango juice! Nice and full we then decided that we could handle a few fresh beers at a beer bar not far off.
Good conversation, a lot of laughing and many hours later, a few beers had turned into a few more.
So off for a quick dinner and home.

Up bright and early, our main goal of the day was to find train tickets to Goa. This time we left Aatish's with our big bags, all squeezed into a rickshaw. We had to say good-bye to Aatish one or too stops on the train before ours, as he headed off to work. The rest of our day is quite uninteresting, as we bought our ticket (2nd class AC so quite expensive but nothing else was left) and mostly just waited around in bars, at cyber-cafes...etc. Our train for Goa left at 23h05.
The 2nd class is a sleeper class however and is quite the way to go...two sets of bunk beds and food and drink always available. By midnight we were fast asleep.
